Tummy
Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Abdominoplasty, also more commonly referred to as a
‘tummy-tuck’, is the most popular procedures
for flattening the stomach. In this cosmetic procedure
all sagging excess skin and fatty tissue can be removed
from across the middle and lower abdomen and the muscles
of the abdominal wall can be tightened to give a ‘firmer’
result. The tummy-tuck procedure is performed under
a general anaesthetic and usually takes 2-3 hours.
After
abdominoplasty, not only will the abdomen be firmer
and flatter, but the waist will be smaller as well.
The amount of improvement depends upon the extent of
surgery and the patient's skin tone, body build, and
healing process etc.
An
individual will have their own specific reasons for
wanting to undergo this procedure.
Loose skin and fatty tissues across the abdomen, once
removed, can result in a flatter, lower body profile
and younger looking abdomen.
Following the rigors caused by childbirth, abdominal
surgery or being overweight for a long period of time,
you often find that the skin has stretched (often causing
stretch marks) and the stomach muscles become slack
so that it will not return to its normal shape –
abdominoplasty can assist in these situations.
